History
In January of 2003, a group of eight people, primarily friends & family, got together to discuss a strategy of how they could build more wealth. They agreed to form a common interest group called an Investment Club.ᅠ Investment Clubs are organized partnerships where each member agrees to pool together a certain amount of money each month to buy or sell a stock/s based on research & a majority vote by the members of the club. The group's investment club was registered as Boston Legacy Investing (BLI). For the first year, each member of BLI invested $75/month into a joint account & that money was invested or re-invested into a stock based upon member research. Investment clubs are said to be excellent long-term options for a retirement fund or college fund for their participators. The premise is to maintain a 15% annual return a year on the stock portfolio, whereby the club will double their money in five years. BLI earned an 18% annual return in year one.
After one year of investing with consistently positive gains, members of BLI began to learn more about the risks & rewards of investing as well as eliminating their fear of it. Despite BLI's gains in the stock market, members desired more & began to look at new investment options as well as offer up opportunities for new members to be apart of what they were creating.
In 2004 BLI invested into a new area, private equity, & purchased an equity stake in Football Scouts, Inc (FSI). FSI, a sports research company that provided detailed information for each NFL player to NFL general managers & coaches to assist them in game preparation, while also using their detailed NFL content to become the primary source of professional football intelligence for the entire family of ESPN Cable networks (Accrue Sports & Entertainment Ventures). ESPN became heavily relied upon FSI's content & purchased the company. BLI earned over 400% of their initial investment on the sale to ESPN. In that same year, BLI earned over a 50% return on their investment in a real estate development (White Sands Development Group/Legacy Acquisitions, LLC) in Florida.
Shortly following the investment return on FSI, BLI invested in a company called FanNation. FanNation is a sports technologies company that created an online aggregation tool for sports enthusiasts to get the most up-to-date information on their favorite teams and players without having to scour multiple search engines (Accrue Sports & Entertainment Ventures). In less than a year of BLI's intial investment, FanNation sold to Time Warner/Sports Illustrated & BLI earned another whopping 400% return on investment.
In December 2006, in conjunction with their private equity investments, BLI decided to launch it's first privately owned & operated company, BLI Real Estate. Shortly following the creation of BLI Real Estate, BLI created Boston Legacy Companies Inc. (BLC) to be the parent company of Boston Legacy Investing, LLC., Boston Legacy Companies Real Estate (formerly BLI Real Estate) & Boston Legacy Equities in 2007.
Currently, Boston Legacy Companies, Inc. has 9 officers & over 40 partnersᅠactively participating & an impressive portfolio of 10 private equity investments, one privately owned & operated business & a positive stock portfolio.
